Nobel Peace Prize 2022: Announcement to give one person and two organizations, Human Rights Advocate Alice of Belarus elected

  This year the Nobel Peace Prize (Nobel Peace Prize 2022) has been given to one individual and two organizations.  Alice Belyatske, a human rights advocate from Belarus, has been selected for the award.  The award was announced in the Norwegian capital Oslo. In addition to Alis, the Russian Human Rights Organization Memorial and the Ukrainian Human Rights Organization Center for Civil Liberties have been given.  Both these institutions work for human rights. Alis started the Democracy Movement in 1980 against the dictatorship of Belarus.  Till date, he is fighting the battle to restore true democracy in his own country.  Belarus President Lukashenko stands with Vladimir Putin in the Russia-Ukraine war.  Alis created an organization called Visana.  This organization provides legal aid to the supporters of democracy in jail. India abstains from voting against China in UN: Proposal for debate on rights of Uighur Muslims rejected

  The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) rejected a proposal to debate the status of Uighur Muslims in China.  Voting on the proposal took place on Thursday.  In this, out of 47 members of the council, 17 voted in favor of the proposal and 19 against.  11 countries including India, Brazil, Mexico and Ukraine did not participate in the voting.
