Nobel Peace Prize 2022: Announcement to give one person and two organizations, Human Rights Advocate Alice of Belarus elected
This year the Nobel Peace Prize (Nobel Peace Prize 2022) has been given to one individual and two organizations. Alice Belyatske, a human rights advocate from Belarus, has been selected for the award. The award was announced in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
In addition to Alis, the Russian Human Rights Organization Memorial and the Ukrainian Human Rights Organization Center for Civil Liberties have been given. Both these institutions work for human rights.
Alis started the Democracy Movement in 1980 against the dictatorship of Belarus. Till date, he is fighting the battle to restore true democracy in his own country. Belarus President Lukashenko stands with Vladimir Putin in the Russia-Ukraine war. Alis created an organization called Visana. This organization provides legal aid to the supporters of democracy in jail.
Alis remained in prison from 2011 to 2014. He was arrested again in 2020 and is still in jail.
Human Rights Organization Memorial of Russia: Formed in 1987, two peace prize winning organizations . At that time there was the Soviet Union. Among its founding members were Nobel Peace Prize winner Andrei Sakharov and human rights advocate Svetlana Ganushkina.
After the breakup of the Soviet Union into 15 parts, it became the largest human rights organization in Russia. It raised the voice for political prisoner or political prisoners from Stalin's time till now. When Russia attacked Chechnya and Natalia Estemirova of this organization was killed in 2009, this organization raised its voice globally. The Russian government describes it as an organization of foreign spies.
Center for Civil Liberties: Established in 2007 in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The aim was to strengthen democracy in Ukraine. This organization says that true democracy still does not exist in Ukraine. This organization demands that Ukraine should become a part of the International Criminal Court.
In February this year, when Russia attacked Ukraine, this organization investigated cases of war crimes. Now these cases are being filed in the International Court of Justice.
Nobel Week started on 3 October and will go on till 10 October. There are total 6 prize announcements in 7 days. Finally, the Nobel in the Economics category was announced. This week only the names of the person or institution who won the award will be announced. Prizes will be given to them in December.
The winners of 2020-21 could not reach Stockholm due to Kovid. This time the committee has also invited the winners of these two years to Stockholm.
The Peace Prize is awarded in Norway. Prizes for all other categories are awarded in Stockholm. On Monday, the Nobel of Medicine was announced to be awarded to Savante Pabo of Sweden. The Nobel for Physics was announced on Tuesday and the Nobel for Chemistry on Wednesday. Both the awards have been given to three scientists each. On Thursday, the Nobel Prize in Literature was announced to be awarded to French writer Anne Arneux.
Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize 2022 According to the
Nobel Committee - a total of 340 individuals or institutions filed nominations for the Peace Prize this year. Of these, there are 251 individuals and 92 organizations.
Last year i.e. in 2021, 329 nominations were received. This year's figure of 343 is the second highest figure in the history of Nobel Peace Prize nominations. Earlier in 2016, 376 nominations were received for this category. These names cannot be made public for 50 years.
- The Nobel in Physics has been awarded to three scientists. These are - Ellen Aspect, John F. Klauser and Anton Gellinger. Alain Aspect belongs to France. He is a professor at the Universities of Paris and Scheele. John F. Clauser is an American researcher and professor. Anton Zellinger is the Head of the Department of Physics and Researcher at the University of Vienna, Austria.
- According to the statement issued by the Nobel Committee - these three scientists did research on entangled quantum states. In this, the two particles behave in exactly the same way. Even if these two particles are separated, their behavior does not change.
- This research will not only be used for new technology, but it can also be extended to quantum information theory of physics. More importantly, it can open new avenues in the treatment of many serious diseases.
- Talking about technology, a new revolution can be brought by this research in quantum computers, quantum networks and quantum encrypted communication. Quantum mechanics will also get a new path.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been announced to be awarded to three scientists. Their names are – Caroline Betrozzi (USA), Morten Medel (Denmark) and Berry Sharpless (USA). Sharpless, 81, received the award in 2001 along with two other scientists.
According to the Nobel Committee, these scientists have given a new dimension to click chemistry. Apart from this, their research in bioorthogonal chemistry will open new avenues for medicine in the future.
