First help in F-16, now Qamar Javed Bajwa is going to America; Is the US-Pak closeness growing?
Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa is going to America for almost a week.The special thing is that this visit has once again fueled the speculation of increasing closeness between America and Pakistan.During this, President Joe Biden can meet several ministers of the government.Earlier in the year 2019, he went to America with the then Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to media reports, it is being said that Pakistan wants military and economic cooperation.So Bajwa is likely to meet US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, intelligence officer Averid de Haines and CIA director William J Burns.The special thing is that before this, Bajwa and Austin also talked on the phone and during that time many issues including common interests, defense were discussed.
On August 18, General Michael E Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command, had a meeting with General Bajwa at the Pakistan Army General Headquarters (GHQ).During that time many issues including military relations, defense were raised.
On his upcoming visit to the US, Bajwa is expected to interact with various think tanks and other scholars interested in Pakistan's affairs.There are reports that the CIA and ISI have repurposed the platform to work.At the same time, it is also being said that Islamabad is seeking a lot of support from America including relief in FATF.
India has raised objections
